Why consistency is so hard

7 years ago, I sat in a coffee shop with a friend.

Consistency felt like grabbing wind in the dark.

  • I was running on 5 hours of sleep (newborn stage)

  • Exercise wasn’t feeling fun

  • I ate my stress

  • I hated my job

I craved stability.

I unloaded these problems to my friend, who was 10 years older than me.

  • He and his wife homeschooled their 6 kids

  • He was becoming an elder at our church

  • He coached his kids’ baseball team

  • He was a director at his job

  • He made exercise happen

And he did it all with a smile on his face.

I envied his joy. I couldn’t understand how he balanced it all.

So I asked him.

“How are you so consistent? How do you do all of this?”

Here was his answer, in 3 words.

A clear vision.

It’s taken me 7 years to understand what he meant by that.

But I get it now.

Consistency is hard when we are confused about what we want.

Consistency is easier when we are clear about what we want.

Here are 3 questions that helped me find clarity.

  1. What would a perfect day look like in 5 years? (Write it out)

  2. What does today look like? (Write it out)

  3. What’s one goal I can set for the next 90 days? (Write it out)

Then go do it.

Clarity makes consistency possible.

Keep on keeping on.

🔎 Finds

When someone joins my 40-day program, I order them one of these Lifeline powder coat kettlebells.

Best quality for price in the market.

I’ve had mine for years now.

My youngest daughter has bad Eczema flares.

It’s constant trial-and-error.

But this is a good diagnostic list to run through.

One of the biggest helps for us has been diet change (limited processed stuff).

At least 18% of cancer cases in the U.S. are related to excess weight, physical inactivity, bad nutrition, or too much alcohol.

Drop 10-15+ lbs in 40 days and start feeling energized again.

I cannot guarantee that you’ll have perfect motivation.

Or that your transformation will make you unrecognizable.

But you will make tons of progress.

And… if you don’t lose 10+ pounds, you get your money back.

I’ll see you next week.

Be strong,

Don
