2 years in full-time fitness

2 years ago (to the day) I left a six figure job and started doing weight loss coaching full-time.

At the time, we had 3 kids under 7. My wife is a stay at home mom, and we lived on one income.

We had some very lean months… ate into savings.

But today we still live on one income, and somehow I’m still standing… shaking my head at God’s provision over the last few years.

I’m feeling a bit nostalgic this week.

So here are 3 lessons I’ve learned from guys who have been successful with their fitness.

  1. Routine > motivation

Guys who crush it, don’t chase “feeling motivated”.

Feelings are slippery as the wind.

Instead, they built a rock-solid eating and lifting routine.

  1. Steps for 60+ minutes, for 30 days

Guys who crush it, walk.

Walking is free, it’s easy, and it works.

But 60+ minutes/day for 30 days exposes the actual reasons keeping us back from consistency.

Fix those, we fix consistency.

(btw, anyone who actually did this ended up loving it)

  1. All cattle, no hat

Guys who crush it, do the work.

The guy who only talks about how he needs to get back into shape but doesn’t do anything… ends up not doing anything.

He’s all hat, but no cattle.

Don’t be that guy.

Be the guy who’s all cattle, and doesn’t care if he has a hat or not.

Anyway. Hope one of these lessons inspires you like they did for me.

keep on keeping on.

I replaced my wallet with this journal 2-weeks ago.

I’m in the middle of a 30 day experiment with it.

It’s sleek, and I find myself writing and reflecting more.

Fear is at the root of excuse making.
