Move like a human

Maybe it’s just me.

But a lot of exercises seem disconnected from real life.

Barbell presses?

When exactly do I lift a 100+ lb broom above my head?

100+ lb tire flips?

I don’t drive a tractor. My family rolls up in a Toyota Sienna.

Battle ropes?

I don’t plan to wrestle pythons. I live in Texas, not south Florida.

Some of this is tongue-in-cheek.

But most of it is not.

When I exercise, I want it to help me with actual movements I do every day.

I want to move like a human.

Kettlebell training has helped me with that.

Kettlebell swings → swinging my kids.

My 3-year old is relentless in her love for this activity.

Kettlebell carries → carrying odd objects while walking.

I’m the pack mule of my family of 5.

Kettlebell cleans → picking up my kids

My kids all want their turn of being picked up and carried.

Here’s how Josh put it.

No exercise perfectly aligns with a real life activity.

But to me, kettlebell training feels much closer.

🔎 Finds

Lots of tasty meal ideas in this article.

The pattern with anti-inflammatory eating?

Limit refined carbs.

The only thing I don’t like about this online meal plan is the complicated grocery list.

It’d make one massive Costco receipt.

This is a cool ab exercise. Just one kettlebell.

The position reminds me of what it feels like to wrestle with my kids.

I have a 13 mile Spartan race coming up in November.

Which means lots of running.

I hated running… until I got these shoes.

These are the most comfortable trail running shoes I’ve ever had.

By the way, this is an affiliate link.

But I only recommend products I’ve actually used.

Before you go!

Parents: drop 10-15+ pounds in 40 days (no gym).

I cannot guarantee that you’ll play with your kids with endless energy.

Or that you’ll never feel sluggish again.

But you will make lots of progress.

And… if you follow Kickstart40 and don’t lose 10 pounds in 40 days, you get your $ back.

I’ll see you next week.

Be strong,

Don
