LF #158: This cereal tastes like Trix, my first coach, these socks rock

Writing this newsletter while enjoying a cup of coffee.
I love a good cup of coffee.
Here’s what’s brewing on today’s newsletter.
🔎 Today’s stories to sip from
I did Paleo for a month. I won’t do it again.
This cereal tastes like Trix
My first coach
These socks rock
I did Paleo for a month. I won’t do it again.
5 years ago I was feeling flabby.
So I did Paleo for 4-weeks.
And I won’t do it again.
Some CrossFitters I knew in their 40’s did Paleo.
I don’t do CrossFit
I was not in my 40’s
I put whole milk in my coffee
Greek Yogurt is my favorite snack
My family does weekly pizza nights
But I did 100% strict Paleo anyway.
Most extreme diet decisions are made like this.
I flipped my eating based on someone else’s lifestyle and preferences.
Which is why Paleo lasted only 4-weeks.
For weight loss, I generally encourage restrictive eating for 2-weeks.
But then immediately move to flexibility.
Here’s how I structure my nutrition now:
80-90% meat, fruit, veggies, dairy, eggs (single-ingredient foods)
Liquids: coffee, water, hot tea, whole milk
Snacks: fruit, jerky, Greek Yogurt, my wife’s bread when she makes it (it’s unreal)
1 pizza night/week
1-2 desserts/week
1 meal out/week (friends, Chick-Fil-A, special occasion, etc…)
That’s pretty much it.
This has worked for me for years.
Restrictive diets give you a boost.
But flexible nutrition allows you to coast.
🔎 Finds
3-Wishes makes great tasting (and healthy) cereal.
Their fruity flavor tastes like Trix.
Every flavor I’ve tried has been great.

Just pure tastiness.
My kids love this stuff.
James Parker was the first coach I ever worked with.
I cannot recommend him enough.
In 2023, I felt stuck.
I liked my job/company.
I just didn’t feel like it was what I was supposed to do.
A few months after working with James, I had a clear vision for the first time in my life.
And I chased after it.
Started Layman’s Fitness full-time in 2024.
2 years later, working with James was one of the best decisions I ever made.
These are my favorite running socks.
I’ve got some happy feet with these socks.
5/5 stars.

Before you go!
Feeling flabby, low-energy, or bloated?
Drop 10-15+ lbs in 40 days and start feeling energized again.
I cannot guarantee that you’ll never have an energy crash again.
Or that you’ll need a brand new wardrobe.
But you will make tons of progress.
And… if you follow the plan and you don’t lose 10+ pounds in 40 days, you get your $ back.
I’ll see you next week.
Be strong,
Don
