Today is also our 10-year wedding anniversary, which makes this story even sweeter.

How My Wife Lost 10 Pounds in 40 Days

My wife was an athlete growing up.

But after 7 years of raising kids…

  • Her energy crashed every day between 1p-3p

  • She had lower left back pain and regular hip discomfort

  • She was 10-15 pounds from where she wanted to be

In her words, she was tired of feeling tired.

Here’s what she did.

  1. 90% eating rule

90% of her eating each week came from a food list I call “Rocket Foods”.

Meats, veggies, fruits, some dairy, water, coffee, and hot tea.

The other 10%?

Pizza, ice cream, Nutella, and homemade bread.

  1. Fast-pass workouts

3x/week, 25-30 minute workouts at home.

With kettlebells & bodyweight.

No gym commutes, no waiting for machines, and no confusion on what to do when there.

All designed to strengthen movement and eliminate pain.

  1. Move like a parent

She was already getting 10k+ steps/day with three kids in the house.

We added an additional 10-20 minute solo-walk.

This allowed her to get more steps, and gave her time to clear her head.

In the last 40 days…

  • She lost 10 pounds

  • Her body pains are slowly disappearing

  • She became alert between 1p-3pm for the first time in years

All while homeschooling three kids 7 and under.

Couldn’t be prouder.

🔎 Finds

Here are my favorite finds/resources this week.

The weaker a person’s grip strength, the higher their risk of death from any cause.

Grip strength is a better predictor of death, including from heart disease, than high blood pressure.

6-8 of these wings have ~380-400 calories, and 22-25g of protein.

Just in time for football season.

Cycle some of these into your workouts.

#2, #7, #17 are my favorites.

The only movements missing here are pull-ups and farmer carries.

🏆 Client Corner

This summer, Walt went in for a DEXA scan.

And the DEXA scan administrator was thrilled except for one thing.

In 6 months, Walt had:

  • Lost 35+ pounds

  • Got down to 23% body fat

  • Exceeded his peer group in most scan categories
