LF #159: GLP-1's don't solve for emotional eating, cannabis & type 2 diabetes, bodyweight v. kettlebell training

Anyone else a paper/pen person over digital?
I still plan my day using a paper notebook.
But I suppose digital is more efficient.
Speaking of which… let’s dive right in.
🔎 Today’s digital digest
How I’d lose 10+ lbs this month (in 7 steps)
GLP-1’s don’t solve for emotional eating
Cannabis & Type 2 diabetes
Kettlebell v. bodyweight training
How I’d lose 10+ lbs this month (in 7 steps)
If I wanted to lose 10+ lbs this month…
Here’s EXACTLY what I’d do.
1) Set a calorie intake goal
I’d use this → https://www.calculator.net/tdee-calculator.html
2) Track everything I eat
I’d use MyFitnessPal. It’s free, with a big database.
It takes < 10 minutes/day to track food.
3) Cut refined carbs
I’d avoid refined sugars, fried foods, alcohol, breads, pasta and rice.
I’d focus on protein, vegetables, fruits, and some dairy.
Liquids would be water, coffee, tea, and whole milk.
4) Walk 60+ minutes, every day
I’d split 60+ minutes up into 3, 20-minute walks each day.
5) Strength train 3x/week
I’d get one kettlebell I can use at home.
I’d do kettlebell swings, goblet squats, rows, and press variations.
Plus core exercises.
6) Track my weight
I’d weight myself ~5x/week.
I’d be heaviest on Mondays, lightest on Fridays.
7) Tell someone I’m doing this
At first, I’d be afraid of telling someone… since I’d be afraid I’d fail.
But the support and accountability from others is liberating.
And in 30 days…
I’d have lost 10+ lbs.
🔎 Finds
92 people were observed at the beginning, 3 months, and 12 months after GLP-1 treatment.
In 12 months, the people with emotional eating patterns returned to their baseline eating habits.
My takeaway from this?
GLP-1’s don’t fix the reason we overeat in the first place.
Cannabis users are 4x as likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
This study does not prove causality.
But there are two possible links between cannabis & diabetes.
1) insulin sensitivity
2) overeating
Which one is more effective for fat loss?
Answer: both
Any kind of method, done consistently, will help you lose weight.
Ready to take control of your health?
Drop 10-15+ lbs in 40 days and start feeling energized again.
I cannot guarantee that you’ll have perfect motivation.
Or that your transformation will make you unrecognizable.
But you will make tons of progress.
And… if you follow the plan and you don’t lose 10+ pounds, you get your $ back.
I’ll see you next week.
Be strong,
Don
