A kettlebell Christmas story
Death to the “all-or-nothing” mindset
From 2018-2020, I ate mostly clean from 6a-5p.
But after work I shoved 3 handfuls of tortilla chips in my mouth and felt like the day was ruined.
I'd tell myself, "welp... eating healthy is over. I'm gonna go all out now. I'll restart tomorrow".
And I'd eat 2 helpings of dinner, more chips, ice cream, more chips, leftovers, and more chips. Self-sabotage.
It was a daily battle against this "all-or-nothing" mindset. Off-brand perfectionism.
- "If I do something, it needs to be perfect"
- "If I can't do something, it means I'm a failure"
- "If I start something, I want to absolutely nail it"
This destroyed me in fitness.
What's helping?
I've had to accept that failure is inseparable from consistency.
Instead of beating myself up in a shame spiral, I have to ask "what's my next play? What would healthy me do next?"
Give myself some grace.
Fail with my chin up.
And never quit 👊
