Corporate HR to Kettlebells

4 years into my 30 year mortgage, I quit my job.

I had been doing HR for 10 years.

  • My wife was homeschooling our 3 kids

  • I worked for an awesome company

  • 6-figure salary

And I quit.

To start a business with 17 kettlebells in my garage.

The first 2 months of business?

  • Month 1: $696

  • Month 2: $896

Barely covered the diaper expenses for my 2-year-old.

But I knew if I quit, I’d go back to city traffic.

Back to daydreams.

Back to listening podcasts about the lives we wanted to live, instead of building one ourselves.

So I went all in with those 17 kettlebells.

But I don’t work with people who have hours to kill at the gym.

Instead, with parents who barely have time for a shower.

A gym costs too much time.

Hours lost to commutes, waiting for equipment, or wiping sweaty machines.

But kettlebells bring the gym home.

Workouts are squeezed between a 8+ hour work day and soccer practice.

Kettlebells solved the time problem for me.

They helped me keep off the 25+ lbs that I lost.

And they are solving that for others.

That’s why I do what I do.

Happy Friday!

🔎 Finds

The author documents her use of FitBit’s health AI for 3 weeks.

She tossed it in favor of real people.

My favorite line:

“There’s a sneaky way of getting faster, and it’s by running with people who are faster than you”.

Walk at a fast pace for 3 minutes.

Walk at a slower pace for 3 minutes.

Repeat 3-5x.

Simple. Boring. Love it!

Fiber is starting to trend (a good one, in my opinion).

Beans, oats, veggies, and whole grains!

Lose 10-15+ lbs in 40 days

(or your money back)

No gym needed.

Just a simple process at home.

3x/week. 30-min workouts.

With one kettlebell (which is included).

Be strong,

Don
